Dream big, but start small. But, what if your small actions lead to small results? What if your efforts do not seem to matter in the grand scheme of things?
The employee’s dream is to become the CEO, the “Man,” who makes the biggest decisions for the company. But, the employee wrestles with the day-to-day tasks and struggles to find meaning through the routines.
The associate’s dream is to become a partner who lands the biggest deals and secures the largest accounts for the firm. But, the associate grapples with hundreds of documents and scrambles through long hours while his dream of becoming “partner” is still thousands of documents and millions of hours away.
The entrepreneur’s dream is to build an empire. But, the entrepreneur’s first venture bleeds money. It loses more than it is earns.
What you are doing right now may not make any sense. The time sheets, the sales reports, the cash advances, and all the other routines and paperworks do not seem to bring you any closer to your dreams.
But like a breathtaking, thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle, you need every piece, every struggle, every failure, every task, and every experience to put together a masterpiece.
Looking ahead, you will not know how your task or your struggle fits in your puzzle. But looking back, you will see how necessary it is to create a wonderful picture.
All your effort today is like a mustard seed. “It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush, and the ‘birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.’” (Matthew 13: 31-32)
Onwards to your victory…one piece at a time!
