What’s your bondage?

In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus healed the paralytic by first forgiving his sins.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to him, "Child, your sins are forgiven." — Mark 2:5

Many of us are paralyzed by our bondages. These bondages can be sins we have yet to confess or regrets and past mistakes that we have yet to let go of.

What’s your bondage?

Today, the Gospel tells us that Jesus is freeing us from our bondages. He is forgiving us our sins and freeing us from our past hurts, mistakes, and regrets.

Jesus is telling us to stop living in the past and move on:

“But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth,” he said to the paralytic, "I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home." — Mark 2:10-11

Today, let us surrender our sins and regrets and move forward. For God is in our past, present, and future.

P.S. Let us also pray for those who are in bondage because of illnesses. If you are sick, can I pray for you? If not, can we pray together for our sick brothers and sisters?

Our Father, You are our Healer and Physician. I ask that our brothers and sisters who are sick find comfort and healing in You. If it is Your will, may You take away what is ailing them. We trust in Your goodness and mercy. May our sick brothers and sisters also discover Your love and mercy in their affliction. May they discover their blessedness for being able to share in the sufferings of Christ and of His Church. May they find peace and courage in the redemptive power of their suffering — for themselves and for your Church. We praise You, Father, o Living God who hears our prayers. We thank You for Your love and embrace. All these we ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
