The hardest people to forgive

It is frustrating when someone does not seem to learn his lessons and simply repeat his mistakes. But, aren’t we the same when it comes to sin?

Are there people in your life who have hurt you over and over again? Are there people in your life who have wronged you repeatedly with the same things?

Forgiveness is at the heart of the ministry of Jesus. It is at the heart of the love of God. That’s why Jesus also calls us to forgive like how the Father has forgiven us.

“Peter approached Jesus and asked him, ‘Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.’” — Matthew 18:21-22

When we think about it, there are sins that we keep on committing. Like the people who hurt us repeatedly, we also hurt God over and over again with the same sins.

It is frustrating when someone does not seem to learn his lessons and simply repeat his mistakes. But, aren’t we the same when it comes to sin?

Yet, God continues to forgive us time and time again.

Today, Jesus is calling us to forgive them from the heart. One of the signs that we have indeed forgiven them is when we can pray for their well-being, for their successes, and for their finding joy and peace by finding God as well.

Who are the people who have hurt you repeatedly? Can you pray for them?
