Comfort for the working class

Rejoice in the struggle. Your sacrifices and service do not go unnoticed in the eyes of God.

There are days when we, people who belong to the working class, dread going to work. Especially when we have to face seemingly endless work, deadlines, and unbelievable traffic.

Are we forever bound to a life of servitude and slavery to our work (and bosses)? Don’t you just wish that you have control over your time, yet be able to provide for yourself and your family?

Let us take comfort in what Jesus tells us in today’s Gospel reading:

“Whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.” — Mark 10:43-44

Jesus knows our daily struggles and challenges. But He assures us that by serving others through the work that we do, we are great in His eyes. While we may be last today, we will be first in eternity.

Endure. Have faith. Place your hope in Him. Remain faithful.

Rejoice in the struggle. Your sacrifices and service do not go unnoticed in the eyes of God.
