Can I share with you my secret to living a happy and limitless life? Simple. Becoming childlike. (Not childish.)
When you were a child, everything was so simple. All you had to do was to eat, sleep, and do what you wanted to do. Money was never a problem. So was impressing other people. Now, you worry about how much you earn or how "prestigious" your job seems. When you were a child, the most important thing was simply to do what you loved to do, regardless of how dirty your clothes or your hands get. Now, you don't even want people seeing you dirty.
If you want to be happy, be like a child and keep everything simple. Just do what you love to do without worrying about what other people think.
When you were a child, everything was possible. People said you could be whoever you wanted to be. I wanted to be a detective, then a computer game programmer, then a computer game magazine editor. However, growing up, people told me how impractical those choices were in a third-world country like ours. They said we're so behind in technology that it wasn't possible. I really wonder what happened to those rarara people? So, I didn't pursue any of those. Practicality limited my choices. Practicality limited my view of the world.
It was only when I believed that possibilities are limitless was I able to pursue what I wanted to do, take chances again, make mistakes, and even fail. But, it was also when I began to have hope that I can live the life I want. I'm not yet there, but I'm way closer to living it than yesterday. Maybe around this time next year, I'm travelling around the world with money still coming in to my bank account. Well, we'll see. When it happens, well and good. When it gets delayed, it's okay. I'll just keep working towards it. The important thing is to believe that it is possible.
If you want to live a life without limits, be like a child and dream again. Then, act on your dreams, of course.
Keep things simple. Live without limits.
Jesus called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18: 2-3 NAB
