Every Sunday, I take a break from writing about doing work that matters and creating your art. Instead, I write about my imperfect understanding of God’s perfect love as my personal mission to spread His word and His love and to make a difference.
Maybe you’re feeling so dirty to come to Jesus because of all your sins and failures.
Maybe you’re feeling ashamed.
Maybe you’re already feeling hopeless.
Maybe you have already given up on yourself.
After all, how many times have you told God that you will no longer lose your temper?
How many times have you told Him that you will break free of your addictions?
How many times have you told Him that you will finally make each day count?
Yet, you fail from time to time.
Still, come to Jesus. And, just as importantly, come as you are.
Come to Jesus with your shame, your failures, your fears, your doubts, and your mistakes.
Come to Jesus with all of you—good and bad alike.
When Peter denied Jesus three times, imagine the shame he must have felt. Jesus spent three years with Peter and the other disciples. He lived with them. He shared His life with them.
But, when it counted the most, Peter denied Jesus three times.
Still, Jesus entrusted His church and His sheep to Peter.
You may have denied Jesus countless times. But, today, Jesus is asking you, “Do you love me?” just as many times as you have denied Him.
He has forgiven you even before you ask for His forgiveness.
Come to Jesus as you are.
P.S. When Peter answered, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love You,” Jesus told Him, “Feed my lambs.” When you open yourself to His forgiveness, it’s your turn to live for others.
