Yesterday, I shared with you how I’m struggling to stay motivated at my new work. That was fast, right?
But, I realized that it’s probably because I’m focusing on the negative things about my job and those happening in my life.
I simply need to change what I focus on.
So, last night, I prepared a “gratitude list.” It is a list of seven things I’m grateful for in my life so I can focus on them instead of my negative thoughts and emotions.
After all, what you focus on grows. (Credit to The Feast and Bro. Bo Sanchez for this lesson.)
At the start of each day, I’ll read my gratitude list during my prayer time. I’ll also read it whenever I’m feeling discouraged to remind myself how blessed I am. I’ll also read it to remind myself to focus on my blessings instead of my burdens.
I also wrote a short list of seven blessings only. I know that if I wrote anything longer, my mind would drift while reading my list. Don’t make it hard for yourself to read your gratitude list. Otherwise, it might lose its effect.
Today, I want to encourage you to write a list of seven things you’re grateful for. Aside from praying, it might just help you pick yourself up whenever you’re feeling down and discouraged. It might also help you to be more positive.
Finally, gratitude is a muscle. The more you use it, the more you’ll be grateful.
