"During the day, Jesus was teaching in the temple area, but at night he would leave and stay at the place called the Mount of Olives. And all the people would get up early each morning to listen to him in the temple area.” — Luke 21:37-38 NAB
After a long day’s work, do you still know how to rest? After a week of toiling, do you still know how to take a break?
Do you like taking a temporary escape from reality by watching TV in the evening only to wake up and face your dreadful reality again in the morning?
Do you like getting away during the weekend and disconnecting from the world only to go back, connect once more, and feel even more exhausted?
Maybe taking a break is not about temporarily escaping your dreadful reality. Maybe it is about retreating for a while and seeing your reality in a different, more positive light.
Maybe taking a break is not about getting away during the weekend and disconnecting from the world. Maybe it is about connecting more to God and reconnecting with your purpose to make a difference in the world and reconnecting with your God-given mission.
I guess that was how Jesus was able to keep on going with His mission. He knew how to rest meaningfully.
How about you?
