“It is better to give than to receive.”
“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
“Live an outward-focused life."
It’s been said different times, in different ways, and by different people. But, we still often forget to apply it in our lives, our work, our service, and even our relationships.
When we focus on what we can give, we are able to do our best work, give our best contribution, and create our best art. We also do not become entitled as servants. Our relationships become lighter as we focus not on what others are doing for us. Our relationships do not become self-centered.
Ironically, when we focus on what we want to receive, we tend to receive less. When we focus on what we can give, we receive more.
You probably know that already. But, it’s always good to be reminded.
