Starting today, I’ll be taking you on a journey to finding and doing work that matters—to you and to others. After all, this is the real reason why I started this blog.
To be honest, aside from my blog, I’m also not yet doing work that matters to me. I’m still at my day job, which is a good job (and a good-paying one at that). I have no complaints. But, it’s not the work or vocation that makes me want to get up in the morning. More importantly, it’s not the vocation wherein I can express myself fully and which challenges me to grow in all aspects of my life.
That’s why I’m now looking for work that will really excite me, challenge me to learn and to learn more, and allow me to be true to myself while making a difference in the lives of others.
Starting today, I will be taking you with me on my journey as I try to look for work that matters. Are you with me?
Here’s what I will be writing on my blog for the coming days, weeks, or months:
- I will be writing exactly about what I’m doing to find work online. This way, you can also do what I’m doing and find work that matters to you as well. Yes, I will be sharing with you all my secrets to finding work (online).
- I will be writing about my progress. This way, we can learn together to see what’s working or not. Also, by writing about my progress, I will be accountable to you to make sure I’m taking one step forward every single day. But, to be honest, I don’t know how long this will last myself. But, that’s what makes a journey even more fun! (Still, I hope it won’t take several months! I’ll be leaving my day job on December 31, finally!)
- I will be writing about life lessons I learn along the way. After all, there should be no such thing as work-life balance. We should not compartmentalize our lives. All areas of our lives are interconnected.
- In the process, I will surely be writing about self-discovery. After all, every journey is an opportunity for self-discovery. A journey becomes worthwhile not so much because of what happens in the journey, but because of discovering the strength you didn’t know you have inside of you.
Does this sound exciting to you? Let me know what you think.
Today, I’ll be revisiting the inventory of skills I wrote some time back. This inventory is important to match what you already know with what the world needs. Your core gift is found in the intersection of what you love to do and what you are great at. Your passion-profession is found in the intersection of your core gift and what the world needs. That’s why you have to make an inventory of your skills or core gifts.
That’s it for today. Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing with you my inventory of skills. So, for now, prepare your inventory of skills so you can share it with me and the community as well! Let’s be accountable to each other in finding and doing work that matters!
We can do this!
