Other People May Not Believe in You, But God Does

Every Sunday, I take a break from writing about WorkLife, and Changing the World. Instead, I write about my imperfect understanding of God’s perfect love as my personal mission to spread His word and His love and to make a difference. You can read more Mission posts here.

It really hurts when other people do not believe in you.

It hurts when they make you feel that you just cannot do it.

They may tell you to focus on other things instead, to be practical, to be realistic, and to just settle where you are.

It hurts when they don't trust you.

It hurts the most when you finally realize that you no longer believe in yourself and that you no longer trust yourself.

Then, you become paralyzed with fear and doubt.

Today, maybe it's time to stop listening to the voices of other people telling you that you cannot do it—that you cannot achieve your dreams, that you are not good enough, and that you should just settle.

Maybe it's time to stop listening even to your own voice.

Today, allow God to remind you that He was the one who planted those dreams in your heart. Allow God to tell you that even though others do not believe in you and in your ability, even though you no longer believe in yourself and your ability, He still believes in you.

Maybe the voices in your head are already too loud and too noisy. This very moment, just stop whatever it is you are doing and go to a quiet place and listen to God.

Last week, I felt defeated and I wanted to give up. The voices in my head were too loud! I was beginning to doubt myself, my dreams, and my ability to figure things out.

But, God never abandoned me. He never left my side. He told me to continue, to trust Him, and to believe in myself once again. He told me to trust in my dreams.

That's why I'm pretty sure He will not abandon you either. But, you have to take the time and make the effort to listen to Him. You have to find His voice by fighting through all the noise.

When you do find His voice, He will tell you in a loving way, "My Child, I believe in you."

It's best feeling in the world.
