Yesterday, I started working on a freelance gig. (Praise God!) I wish I could say that I got the job on my own. But, it was a job shared with me by a good friend.
I'll also be having a trial run with another client. Again, it was because of the good word my friend put in for me. To my good friend, thank you.
Because of these gigs, I'll have enough to get myself by the next couple of weeks. Now, I know what “hanap” buhay means.
Looking back at my past achievements, I realized that they were not just because of my own efforts, talents, and abilities. In one way or another, big or small, other people helped me achieve them.
Of course, without my God, I am nothing.
Without my parents who provided everything we needed (and even what we wanted), I wouldn't be able to dream my dreams. I know some friends who are the breadwinners in their families. No matter how much they want to leave their jobs and take risks, they simply can't because they have other people to think about, not just themselves. I really honor my friends who work hard for their families. I also want to thank my parents for giving us comfortable lives that allowed us to expand our dreams and territories. (And i's their 31st anniversary today!)
Then, there were my friends and former colleagues who encouraged me especially when I felt like giving up, who inspired me to do my best by always being at their best at work (it rubbed off on me), and who helped shaped my dream.
There were also people who hurt me. Without them, I wouldn't have discovered more about myself. I wouldn't have learned about what I stand for and how much I can fight for them. I'm sorry for the hurts I caused them as well and I’m grateful for them.
At one point or another, in one way or another, other people were there to help me in my journey. Some are already ahead of me. Some I already left behind. Some went to different paths. But, I'm grateful that at one point in our journeys, we met, they gave me a warm smile that made the journey easier, they helped me carry my bag, they offered me some food and water, they even carried me for a while, and they helped me get back on my feet whenever I stumbled. I'm not sure if and when I'll meet them again. But, I'm really grateful I met them along the way. I wouldn't be where I am right now if it weren't for them. To all the people in my journey, thank you.
How about you? Who are the people in your journey?
You are where you right now not just because of your own efforts, skills, and talents. In one way or another, at one point or another, someone else helped you in your journey.
