… is all about connections. It’s not about the number of followers, likes, shares, or comments that you have. it’s not even about the amount of engagement you get.
It’s about the meaningfulness of your engagement.
Do you genuinely connect?
Yet, we have been using our digital tools to feed our ego (myself included), to get the attention and affirmation we’re seeking from these notifications on our dashboards.
Many companies don’t get this. They’re obsessed with follower count, likes, and conversion. But, they fail to connect with the individuals. What they fail to realize is that when they make genuine connections, they increase the lifetime value of their customers.
Many of us (myself included) don’t get this as well. Just because we’re friends on social media doesn’t mean we have a meaningful relationship, that we're really friends, that we know each other in a personal way.
Social media’s goal is for us to connect with each other. Sadly, it made connections cheap. We take our connections for granted.
It’s up to us, the users, to make them meaningful again. The tools are there. They’re not being properly and correctly used.
