I get more likes for my drawings than for my writings. I compromise for the sake of getting more likes or attention, even at the expense of writing meaningful and purposeful pieces. (Meaningful, at least for me.)
My mailing list’s open rate is at its lowest during weekends. So, I often compromise by posting less on weekends. Even at the expense of consistency and my desire to contribute by sharing my thoughts regardless of what day it is.
And I’m guilty of lowering my standards just to please anyone and every one. I don’t swing for the fences and go for the edges to avoid conflicts, even if it means contributing to the race to the bottom.
The quality of our contribution begins to suffer the moment we put pleasing others above our purpose. It is at this very same moment when we compromise the quality of our work and even our ideals just for a few clicks of the “like" button.
