Today’s bible verses are those usually shared for those who are tired and weary.
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
Oftentimes, we focus on taking the yoke of Jesus which is light and easy.
But, today, let’s focus on the second part of the verse: “learn from Me.”
In order to have real rest, you cannot just take the yoke of Jesus upon you. You cannot just lay your burdens upon His feet or His cross. You also have to learn from Him. Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.”
How do you learn from Him? By reading and studying His word.
How does studying the Word of God give you rest?
When you study His word, you’ll learn and understand that His love is unconditional. You’ll learn that you don’t have to do anything to be loved.
Thus, there is nothing more to prove—to God, to yourself, or to others. So, why burn yourself out always trying to prove something?
By reading His word, you’ll also learn how God worked throughout the course of history. You’ll learn that you can trust Him. And when you learn to trust Him, you no longer have to worry about anything else. You don’t have to overwork yourself and wear yourself out. God provides.
Are you feeling tired? Read His word and learn from Him.
P.S. Make it a habit and a commitment to read His word. What worked for me was reading three chapters of the bible every day. You can also start by reading the New Testament as Jesus fully revealed who God was—a Father who is loving and merciful. You might get confused with a seemingly violent and punishing God if you read the Old Testament first. God is unchanging. What changed was people’s understanding of Him. But, Jesus revealed who God truly is.
