Pleasing everyone is not your job

Read today's scripture

The parish priest’s homily this morning struck a cord as he reflected on these verses:

“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they said, ‘He is possessed by a demon.’
“The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’”

There are some people whom we cannot please. And it simply isn’t our job to do so.

What’s important is we stay true to our mission, our calling, or the work we are called to do even if others hate us, ridicule us, or even persecute us for it.

Jesus and John the Baptist remained faithful to their respective callings despite the opposition. They weren't able to please everyone.

How about you? What’s the work you were called to do? Remain faithful to it and don't try to please everyone.
