Are You Waiting for Life to Happen?

Today is Mission Monday. On Mission Mondays, I write about my imperfect understanding of God’s perfect love. I am fulfilling my mission to spread the word of God by writing about the strategies and battle plans of the Greatest Conqueror who ever lived – Jesus Christ.

God’s Word: Matthew 6:31-34

“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Are You Waiting for Life to Happen?

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Milestone!

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Milestone!

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Milestone!

Repeat 100 times.

Our lives are defined by milestones. When we were younger, the milestone we needed to achieve was to graduate with flying colors.

After graduating, our next milestone was to get a job. Then come getting promoted and becoming financially secure to get married and have our own families.

When we already have our own children, our next milestone is their graduation.

After that comes seeing our own grandchildren and seeing them graduate.

Then, we prepare for retirement, get our hefty retirement packages, and travel all around the world.

After achieving all our milestones, we prepare for the day our Maker calls us to our eternal home in heaven.

Oh! I almost forgot. We also have our mini-milestones like getting that dream car and having that dream vacation.

In between these milestones are the days and years we spend waiting for their fulfillment. And these days and years take more than ninety-five percent of our lives while our milestones take only five percent.

The irony is that we live only during the five percent while we wait for life to happen during ninety-five percent.

Don’t Wait for Life to Happen

“I will get a job after I graduate from college.”

“I will start my own charity when I am financially free.”

“I will serve God full time when I finally have my own business.”

“I will finally look for the girl of my dreams when I can be a good provider for our future family.”

We always wait for life to happen. When we were still studying, we thought life would begin only when we finally start working. Now that we are finally working, we think life will begin only when we have the money to do what we want.

When we already have all the money we need, we will only end up waiting for something else to happen before we start “living.”

We keep on delaying life.

Over the weekend, I realized that I have been delaying life myself. For the first time in my life, I finally decided that I wanted to live! I do not want to wait for anything significant to happen in my life just to be able to LIVE. I want to start living and I want to start living NOW!

I do not need romantic love just to feel secure about myself.

I do not need so much money to start my own charity or to start helping in an established charity.

I do not need a business to start serving God.

I do not need a six-digit salary to go on an adventure.

I do not need millions of pesos to give back to my parents and to bring them on an adventure!

I do not need so much experience and credibility to start making a difference in the lives of others!

I already have everything I need to live my life! I just have to live it.

Friend, how about you? What are you waiting for to live your life? What is delaying you from living your life to the fullest? What is keeping your from living the life you have always wanted to live?

You already have everything you need to live your life! You just have to live it!

Do not allow the lack of money (or love life hehe) to keep you from living.

Live not only the five percent of your life. Live one hundred percent of it! Feel every moment! Experience every up and every down! They are what makes your life an exciting roller coaster.

Stop waiting for life to happen. Make life happen.

Live one hundred percent.
