A Call Against Callousness

Famine. Poverty. Violence. War. Human trafficking. Climate change.

There is still something we can do about them. But, when have we become so callous?

Have we resigned to the thought that these are already a given?

Have we become too focused on our own lives that we pretend to be blind to the bigger issues surrounding us?

Have we become indifferent to the things not directly affecting us?

If only we could learn to feel the pain of others once more and cry with them. If only we could take action once again. If only we were brave enough to step up as role models for people to follow. If only we could take a stand against callousness.

How wonderful would the world be?

The good news is: It's not too late. It's never too late. But, we should get started now.

Let us take a stand against callousness and be role models for people to follow today. Let us do something, anything, one small thing, this very day to remove a little bit of callousness in our hearts and in the hearts of others.

Then, let's do it again tomorrow. And the next day. And the day after that.

Shall we begin now? What one thing can we do today? How can we love someone today?
